Gwinnett Homeowners Trust Our Deck & Fence Work
Wood outdoors is always losing a battle. Sun dries it out, rain swells it, pollen and mildew settle in, and every season takes a little more. A good stain job slows that down — and can even reverse it — but only if the prep is real and the product is right.
Whether it's a second-story deck overlooking the backyard or a long privacy fence running the property line, we've handled wood staining projects across Lawrenceville, Norcross, Buford, and the rest of Gwinnett for over a decade.
What's Included in Our Deck & Fence Staining Service
Wood staining isn't just cosmetic. A good stain application penetrates the wood, locks out moisture, resists UV damage, and keeps wood from cracking and splintering. A bad stain job — or no stain at all — lets wood deteriorate quickly, often to the point where boards need to be replaced within a few years.

Deck & Fence Staining — The Steps That Matter
Deck & Fence Staining Problems We Solve Every Day
-
"My deck stain peeled within a year."
Usually this means the previous stain was applied over a surface that wasn't cleaned or stripped properly. Solid stain applied over a failing semi-transparent layer is a common culprit. We strip failing finishes before re-staining.
-
"My deck boards are splintering and rough."
Untreated wood gets dry, raises grain, and splinters as it ages. Staining with a penetrating product re-introduces oils and locks out moisture. Sanding before staining smooths rough boards.
-
"My fence is gray and weathered."
Gray fence boards can often be brightened back to their original wood tone with a wood brightener after pressure washing. From there, a fresh stain locks in the new color.
-
"Water pools on my deck and the boards are cupping."
Water pooling and cupping usually means the stain has worn off and the wood is absorbing moisture. Stripping, drying fully, and re-staining restores water protection. Severely cupped boards may need to be replaced.
-
"I don't know which stain color to pick."
Stain color is easier to test than paint color because stains tend to look similar across different wood species. We bring samples, test patches on your actual deck or fence, and let you see the real result before committing.
-
"Some boards are rotten. Can you still stain?"
Rotten boards need to be replaced before staining — otherwise you're staining wood that's going to fail anyway. We handle minor board replacement as part of most projects. Major structural issues (joists, posts, support beams) need a deck carpenter, which we'd flag up front.
-
"My HOA requires a specific stain color."
Not a problem. We can match HOA-required colors to leading stain brand formulas.
-
"I tried to stain my deck myself and it looks terrible."
Common story. DIY staining often goes wrong because of prep shortcuts or the wrong product. We can strip the failed DIY work, re-prep the wood, and apply a fresh stain properly.
A Family-Owned Painting Company That Knows Georgia Wood
Mena's Quality Painting has handled deck and fence staining across Gwinnett for more than a decade. Georgia weather does specific things to outdoor wood — humidity, sun, sudden storms, pollen season — and we've learned what lasts and what doesn't.
We're family-owned, zero-subcontractor, and backed by the PCA, NAHICA, and a Best of Gwinnett award. Every staining project we complete is covered by our 3-year labor warranty in writing.
Deck and fence work is where bad prep shows up the fastest. We don't rush it.
No Subcontractors — Ever
The crew painting your home is our crew. Not a third-party contractor. Not a day-labor fill-in. Our team, on every job, every time. That's how we guarantee quality.
Communication That Doesn't DIssapear
You'll know what's happening and when. From your first quote to the final walkthrough, you'll have a direct line to us — not a call center.
A 3-Year Labor Warranty

Real Coverage — Our 3-Year Warranty on Staining Work
Deck and fence stain wears at a different rate than interior paint — outdoor exposure guarantees it. What our warranty covers is our workmanship: the prep, the application, and the technique.
If our stain work fails within three years because of how we did it — peeling caused by insufficient prep, uneven penetration, or application errors — we come back and fix it at no cost.
Wear from normal outdoor exposure, UV fading, and weather-related damage isn't a workmanship issue and falls outside the warranty. We'll explain the coverage clearly in your paperwork and recommend a maintenance schedule to get maximum life out of the stain.
Services That Often Go With Deck & Fence Staining
Interior Painting
Less common combo, but some whole-home projects include both.
Exterior Painting
Many homeowners bundle deck staining with exterior painting during full-home refreshes. Same crew, same visit.
Commercial Painting
We stain decks, railings, and outdoor wood features at commercial properties too (restaurant patios, office courtyards, and more).
